Ina Claire ... "Ziegfeld Girl," The Quaker Girl," "Gold Digger Girl."

Considered one of the most celebrated performers and Pioneers of high comedy on the American stage. Went to public school until she began her career appearing in vaudeville at age 16 in 1909. She appeared in the Ziegfeld Folies in 1915 (as the headliner) and again in 1916 (as Juliet) at the New Amsterdam Theatre. Made her first appearance in England in 1913 at the Adelphi Theatre.

She was one of the first Carl Van Vechten's portraits in 1932. Appeared on the 8/30/1929 Time Magazine cover and was awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (6150 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, CA.) on 2/8/1960. She died at age 92 of a heart attack in San Francisco, California.
