Freda was abandoned as a baby of five months on the Wyckoff's doorstep in Alhambra,
California.
The Wyckoff's adopted Freda and started taking
her to dances at an early age. Freda says she has won over a thousand swing dance contests over the years and has been a featured dancer in many swing movies in the 1940's and 1950's such as "Don't Knock the Rock" and many others. Freda's main partner was George Christopherson, but say's she never really had a regular partner. Freda says she has danced at every nightclub and ballroom in So. California since the 1930's. Freda is still active today in the swing dance community and has donated many pictures and information to this site. Freda has collected more California and other swing information, pictures and videos than probably any other single person in the swing dance community. Freda now lives in the San Fernando Valley in Southern California ( Thanks Freda.) |
