Antonio and Rosario were First cousins, and both studied Spanish (and Flamenco) dancing under Realito. They were so successful as children that they soon were performing at recitals with their first paring being the Academia de Realito. Their Spanish dancing created a sensation at the Liege Exposition in Belgium in 1928, this being their first public performance.
They dissolved the teaming many years later in December of 1952, reportedly due to a dispute or misunderstanding and pretty much lasted until 1962 when Rosario returned to Spain to work with Antonio in the Teatro de La Zarzuela. They both struggled somewhat |

at first but both successfully went on without each other ... but with the reunions with Antonio in later years Rosario would be billed as an invited guest artist, rather than the previous "Antonio and Rosario." They reunited once again in a 1964-65 to tour all of Europe, Russia and North & South America.
They had performed internationally and were dubbed 'Los Chavalillos Sevillanos' by Latin America and "the Kids from Seville" by Americans. They made their first U.S. appearance in October, 1940. Columbia Concerts managed them and their small troupe in international concerts and plays. They have performed in many movies over the years together and apart. Antonio has movie credits as Antonio Lopez. Rosario died in Madrid on January 21, 2000, at the age of 82. |
