At the age of two, June would work in a few
Harold Lloyd Shorts. Originally a Vaudeville performer by the
age of five and later as "Dainty Baby June and her Newsboy
Songsters" with June as the star and Louise in a supporting
role in a vaudeville act with her mother Rose and older sister
"Gypsy Rose Lee." ( June was sister to the famous
stripper/actress - Gypsy
Rose Lee.)
June would marry one of the performers in the
Baby Jane production by the age of thirteen and left the act.
When she was 17, she started entering Dance
Marathons in San Francisco in 1933 under the name of June
Reed. Later, June would dance in a total of six marathons
and she held the all time marathon record of 3,600 hours ( For
about 5 months) in West Palm Beach, Florida in 1934.
June's mother Rose Thompson-Hovick (father
was John Hovick), was a "Burlesque Queen" herself. June
stopped doing marathons and vaudeville and went on to became a
successful movie Actress, Author as well as a Dancer.
