Bolger was originally a
song and dance man in Vaudeville as well as comedy and performed
occasionally on Broadway. He was part of the team called
'Sanford & Bolger'. In 1936 he signed up with MGM and
his first role was in the movie 'The Great Ziegfeld'. He
Learned Rhythm tap from Herbie Harper for the Slaughter
on Tenth Avenue scene in "On Your Toes" in 1936. Bolger danced in "Sweethearts"
and the "Wizard of Oz" ( As the 'Scarecrow'.)
Bolger was also a Tony Award winner in 1948/49. In the 1950's
Bolger had a hit sitcom on television called 'The Ray Bolger
Show' aka: 'Where's Raymond'. |
