Stand Up and Cheer (aka: Fox Movietone Follies of 1934)
|" Shirley Temple - A Star Is Born" |
-- Synopsis: More of a political film flop than a musical. Shirley Temples is Shirley Dugan, who has a song and dance act with her father (James Dunn.) When Shirley takes center stage dressed in her classic baby-doll poka dot dress, a song and dance sequence (Baby, Take a Bow) that propelled Shirley to fame in her first breakthrough feature. also features Frank Mitchell and Jack Durant and the monumentally unfunny hillbilly routine by John " Skins" Miller.
* This is not a film based on Shirley Temple as the Cover"might suggest, as she is really only in a few scenes but she does do one of her most famous dance routines in " Baby, Take a Bow." There is also some nice swing dancing with Maxie Dorf, Mary McCassin and Larry Wise.
