Valley Swing Dance Club and Dance Night

If your looking for a fun and easy way to get some exercise, get out of the house or just to meet NEW people, West Coast Swing dancing on Wednesdays in the San Fernando Valley Swing Dance Club is the way to go. Are You tired of sitting around the house with your significant other?, arguing about the remote? ... or maybe new to the area ?... Always wanted to learn to dance?, Need some exercise? ... Work to much? or maybe just need to re-enter the singles social scene in a friendly environment?, etc. ... try West Coast Swing dancing.
If you are new, you probably feel like you have two left feet, maybe UN-coordinated and don't want to look silly or feel stupid in front of other people. You may even feel you can't do it cause you have never danced before and everyone else knows how (not true). If that's the only reason you are holding back ... 'forget-about-it' ... as this is a very common feeling with 'ALL' who take up dancing and no one will be judging you while you are learning, as they are to busy feeling just like you (you may even learn how to laugh at yourself from time to time).
If you can walk, count to eight and want to do something else besides watch TV or search the inter-webs you can learn to SOCIAL DANCE. But, be prepared ... the first week is fun, but can naturally be a little scary, confusing and intimidating your very first time out ... so relax and just have some fun and don't take it so seriously, we'll do that for you. So let us worry about your progress!. It is Exhilarating, Fun and Good Exercise. Plus it makes the people at work think you really do 'HAVE A LIFE' (wink ;) ... (Average learning time is around four Wednesdays to feel comfortable about dancing after the class.)
Its FUN, SAFE and GREAT EXERCISE and most of all cost less than a movie (You do not need to be a member to participate.) We get a good turnout throughout the night with great people of all races, Religions, Ethnic Backgrounds and All Ages (average age is thirty to forty somethings with some older and younger.) Beginning Lesson starts at: 7:30pm.
If you already dance 'West Coast Swing' you will have a very good time with other people who also enjoy dancing West Coast Swing in the San Fernando Valley (Southern California) and surrounding areas as well as other dances like Hustle, NC2S, Salsa and more. We get a great mix of dancers from young to old and from Beginning to Champion dancers alike. This is the main breeding ground for WCS in the northern Los Angeles area for over 30 years so come join the fun!.
As a Plus, the Intermediate and up level WCS dance lesson at 8:30pm. can give you a new step or three as well as introducing you to some of the folks if your new to the area. So what are you waiting for ... come dance with us. V.S.D.C. Membership is never required but joining can save you some $$$ (see: door person).

Beginners Class Starts:
First Wednesday of the Month! (... tho you can actually start any week).
Beginners Class Time:
7:30-8:30 pm. (yes, you may come late, but, depending how late, you may fall behind.)
Beginners Class Length:
1 hour group class. Weekly (4, sometimes 5 lessons during a month [
]). No extra charge to stay after.
Cost:
$12.00 (covers entire night, including: Beginning, Intermediate/Advanced classes and/or dance after ($10. members)
* No dance experience or partner necessary; we rotate. ... Dress is night club casual, clean, no Gym or workout clothes. Shoes should be secure on your feet, a lower heel is better with flexible suede or leather soles working the best (tennis shoes stick too much). Most ladies wear pants/slacks but dresses/skirts are always welcome. Yes, staying after class helps a lot!... come early, stay late! Please no food or water. Water/Spirits can be purchased at the bar.
* We know getting out of the house after work can be a pain, but once your here, your going to forget the day really fast!. Eat a light non-Garlic/Onion meal (so you don't get a food coma and wanna sleep,) put down that remote and get your rear down here! ... Facebook will still be there when you get home lol

Intermediate and Up ... West Coast Swing Dance Lessons ...

Intermediate Class Starts:
'Drop-In Class' style, start anytime/week. Each week is new material.
Intermediate+ Class Time:
8:30-9:00pm-ish. (this class moves rather quickly.)
Intermediate Class Length:
Half Hour Weekly group Class (four, sometimes five lessons during a month). No extra charge to stay after for dance. So come early, stay late!
Cost:
$12.00 (covers entire night: includes Beginning, Intermediate/Advanced class and/or dance after ($10 members).
* 'Open Group' dance classes are a fun way to progress to higher levels of dance in a social setting (such as our Intermediate master series on Sundays.) Wednesday Intermediate class level varies - pre-requisite: In this Intermediate/Advanced class you must know at least the Basic Whip, Basic Tuck-Turn, Basic Sugar Push and Basic Under Arm Pass to participate. (You'll just be slowing others down if you don't.) You may come early and stay late!. Drinks/Water can be purchased at the bar.

Location: L.A. Dance Sport Club dance studio: 6015 Reseda Blvd. Tarzana, CA.

Parking: Please park on south side of Building or on Street. (North side might get you towed!!!)
WCS Class Times: 2:15pm to 4:15pm.
There is usually some practice time after class with music. We occasionally go over the 4:15 mark! Please arrive around 10 minutes early to check in and be ready to start at 2:15pm.
Cost:
$15.00 per week ($5. off VSDC members if paid 6 week discount ($75.00 per person)). New Program: You may start any week, and come as you like.
* Partners not necessary (we rotate). Dress is clean+casual/comfortable. Suede/Leather soled shoes are a must.
This weekly class is designed to get your WCS dancing better and to acheive more confidence, better Timing, Rhythm, Poise, Technique and Style with committed, like minded partners. Every Sunday practice class has different teachings and material for both men and women. Class is open to all who can do the 'Basics of WCS' and with our new system you may start any week and not be left behind. We always work on proper lead/follow, style and technique. Remembering what to do and how to do it is one of the hardest parts of dance and this class will help you elarn and remember even if you can't make every Sunday. No Partner needed. We even offer a 6 week 'discount' for those wanting to save money.
Occasionally we also have a ''Series Focus'' which we commit or focus the first half hour of the class to: ''Phrasing, Spins and Turns, Hitting the Breaks, Syncopating, Rhythm,'' etc. Plus there are many, many things not mentioned in normal nightclub classes that we explore and share here. You wanna get good?, we can help!... so commit and show up! :)

Sonny Watson and the ''Valley Swing Dance Club'' (V.S.D.C.) meet-up every Wednesday Nights in the San Fernando Valley (Los Angeles, CA.) and are dedicated to the West Coast Swing style of dance since 1985, although we have no problem playing another style of dance or two if someone wants to dance ... say a Tango, Cha-Cha, NC2, Salsa, Lindy, Texas Two-Step etc. but it is primarily a WCS night.
The night starts off with a 'Beginning WCS Lesson' at 7:30pm, then followed by a 'Intermediate/Advanced WCS lesson' at 8:30pm. At 9:00pm to midnight it's open dancing to some great DJ'd WCS music. Each week varies in attendance and can be as low as 50 people (still fun) and up to over 120, depending on how the wind blows lol. We do have special nights such as our 'Blues Only Nights,' 70's, 80's Mix Nights, WCS Dance Contests, Halloween WCS Party, Cinco de Mayo party, Valentines party, special Potlucks, WCS Birthday parties and more. Because we are a successful WC Swing Dance Club, we can afford to not charge extra for parking and/or lessons and pass that savings on to you!.
You do not need to be a ''Swing Club'' member to participate. 21 and over only and all Ethnicities welcome to dance WCS at our club ... from 21 to 70 and everyone in between having a swell time and dancing their Butts Off :)

Hosted by the top three So.Cal. Swing Clubs who got together to throw one helluva WCS party: Sonny Watson (V.S.D.C.), Jack Smith (O.C.W.C.S.D.C.) and Ben Morris (S.C.S.D.C.) on November 25, 2015 at the Marriott Hotel in Burbank (same location as US Open). Int. Lessons from 7-9pm. with Ben and Sonny. Exhibition's and Great WCS dancing after lessons. There will be many people from out of town present as well as the many locals. You won't want to miss it!. The cost for this combined dance will be $10 for the classes or dance, $15 for both. Hope to see everyone there! ...
