The Swing Waltz is done to 3/4 time and became
popular around 1937. It is a waltz, despite the name of
swing (referring to Jitterbug,
etc.).
The dance was basically a swinging motion and was
done to Big Band music rather than a Classical type of Music, basically a Waltz for Swing dancers.
There is a certain type of swing music that is done in 3/4 time,
but it had nothing to do with the original "Swing Waltz."
The Swing Waltz is also a favorite of the Ice Skating Community. |
