This
dance is usually done with a huge clear, see through Bubble, usually
about 8 feet in circumference but can be smaller. The dancer dances
with the bubble (supposedly totally nude) to strike some
interesting poses, occasionally appearing to be inside the bubble.
"#9999FF">Sally
Rand
is credited in making the Bubble dance famous and is often called
|
|
"Sally Rand's Bubble Dance". This dance was popular
in the 1930s. This was an alternative to the Striptease.
- There was also a federation entitled
"Western Federation of Fan Dancers" and the "United
Fan, Bubble and Specialty Dancers" who had a convention in
San Diego, Ca. on 4-23-1936. In
June of 1936 at the San Diego Exposition, Rosita Royce arrived,
claiming Sally Rand stole her balloon or bubble dance. It was
also announced that Miss Royce would spend her leisure time at
Zoro Gardens.
