Bessie Love ... "Ziegfeld Girl," "the Little Brown Wren"

Born in Texas but moved to California with her family in 1906. Her (silent) film debut was started in the pre-code era in a small role in the Biograph film 'Intolerance' by D.W. Griffith, Then Vitagraph pictures, First National Pictures plus others and later moved nicely into 'talkies' and Pathe short subjects. Ziegfeld was never to far behind in those days and swooped her up in his 1918 Follies. She was to become a noted 'WAMPAS' Baby Star in 1922. She even wrote screenplays like the 1919 film Yankee Princess. Was nominated for an Academy Award for the film Broadway Melody in 1929.

Did some vaudeville tours between films but by 1935 she would permanently pack up and move to London where, supported the war effort by working for the Red Cross and after WWII became a British citizen there. Had many Film and Television credits to her name from 1916 to 1983. Hollywood honored her with a star on Hollywood's 'Walk of Fame'. Bessie died 26 of April 1986, London, England, UK.
