Archie started his dance career with the Kathrine Dunham Troupe.
Archie was also an avid swing dancer and movie actor who danced
in many of his films. However many of his roles were stereotypical
of his African American heritage. Archie did other dances as well
as the Lindy Hop / Jitterbug.

the movie "Jammin
The Blues", Archie does the Lindy
Hop with partner Marie Byant which later was to become one
of the most televised scenes in many documentaries such as National
Geographics 'Jitterbug'.
