The Rocketts at Radio CIty Music Hall In New York

Stage Name

Birth Name

The Rockettes See Below

The Rockettes were originally the choreography theme of John Tiller (Tiller Girls) who started this choreography style around 1881. There where many tiller type dance troupes to come after his original idea including a group called the Missouri Rockets.

Later around 1926 this group called the "Missouri Rockets" was owned by Samual Makertand was based in St. Louis were they were discovered by Samuel L. Roxy. Roxy purchased the troupe and brought them to New York, where he doubled the size and renamed them the Roxyette's in 1934. When Radio City Music Hallopened on December 27, 1932, the Roxyettes were used in the act and renamed the 'Rockettes'. They were a sensation that would last and become a famous tradition of Radio City Music Hall for many years to come.

Basically they do what is called a 'Tap and Kick routine'. It is said that 'a Rockette NEVER gets out of step'. Many people go to watch them to see if they can catch one "Out Of Step", but none have ever been caught. (I can see me now running up on Stage hollering..."I saw You"... LOL :)

    More to come!
