de Lour |
-Percy started out as a chorus boy at a local theater called the
La Salle. Percy Oakes and Pamela De Lour were untrained dancers
except for the local Saturday night dances they attended. On hearing
that the Castles canceled their appearance at Rector's Cabaret,
Percy talked his girlfriend Pamela to audition for the spot.
--These two rehearsed for a couple of
days and put together a routine with some breathtaking acrobatics
in their routine which cinched them the spot. While dancing with
Rector's and other Chicago clubs the two got married. As time progressed
they were spotted by Martin Beck of Vaudeville fame who hired them
to perform on the famous Orpheum circuit. |
