Actor and dancer Gus Schilling was born in
New York in 1908. He started his career in Vaudeville and on the
Burlesque stages as a comic actor and dancer. Gus Schilling made
the big time when he joined the Earl Carroll Vanities in the 1930s
and later Orson Well's Mercury Theater troupe. Gus usually played
a nervous, fidgety type comedy roles.
He would also do a comedy characterization
as the harried orchestra leader in the famous swing dance movie
Hellzapoppin'.
