Mexican Dancer
and Actress who was a star of Hollywood films during the
silent era and in the Golden Age of Hollywood, becoming
an important actress in Mexican cinema later in her life.
Del Rio was a very beautiful latino woman who would be the
first Latin American movie star to have an international
appeal.
In her childhood
she had shown a great passion for dancing and strived to
be as good as Russian ballerina Anna
Pavlova. del Río made her film debut in Joanna
in 1925 and Her career flourished until the end of the silent
era but because of her Latin accent she would not talk much
in the early Talkies.

Down to Rio' and did really good, but then unknowns Fred
Astaire and Ginger
Rogers stole the show. towards the end of her American film
career, del Río became one of the victims of McCarthyism,
but she continued with even a greater succes in Mexican films.
On April 11, 1983, Dolores del Río died
from liver disease at the age of 77, in Newport Beach, California. |
