   ---Gabriel and Pauline are credited for introducing the Polka to the United States in 1844. De Korponay was a retired officer in the Hungarian Army. The Polka they did was one of the most liked of all the Polkas introduced at the time.

   Pauline danced with Fanny Elssler at the Park Theater in New York in the 1840s , they did Pauline's dance The New Polski Mazurka. (Picture shows Pauline and Gabriel doing the Polka in 1848)
