Son of Cesar Julio Romero and singer Maria Mantilla and Grandson
of Jose Martí, the liberator of Cuba. Started his career
as a dancer in nightclubs and later became an debonair Actor as
well as dancer in many musicals. Cesar Romero danced in many movies
with people such as Betty Grable, Sonja Henie and Carmen Miranda.
Cesar can be seen doing the Jitterbug and Samba as well as other
Latin style dances. (Picture on left is with Sonja Henie).

From 1966 to 1968 he became well known for his role as the Joker
in the Television series Batman as well as played the parts of
the Cisco Kid in the Cisco Kid Films. Romero also served three
years in the U.S. Coast Guard during W.W.II. In 1972 Romero opened
a restaurant in Los Angeles called Cappuccino's and even though
he was very popular with the ladies he was a confirmed bachelor
all his life.

Romero, who had been hospitalized in Santa Monica, CA. in 1994
with severe bronchitis and pneumonia, He died of complications
of a blood clot.
