Desi Arnaz on the Drums

Stage Name

Birth Name

Desi Arnaz Desderio Alberto Arnaz y De Acha III
Desi's family fled to Miami, Florida from Cuba with his parents due to political problems. Desi Arnaz is said to have invented the "La Conga Dance," however he is more probably to have introduced it to the United States rather than to have invented it, but either way, he definitely made it very popular. Worked with the Xavier Cugat Orchestra at one time.

He was a struggling musician and when he introduced the La Conga, it made him famous. He later was to do it in the Broadway play "Too Many Girls" in 1936 were he met Lucy. Arnaz later would marry Lucille Ball and partner with her on the Television sitcom "I Love Lucy." Desi passed away in California at the age of 69.
