| Designed by Gordon B. Kaufmann
for Earl Carroll. It was basically an upscale Burlesque,
featuring the Paris Showgirl type of entertainment, and
somewhat similar to the Medieval Times supper club in Anaheim
today.
This of many clubs of the day attracted actors, directors,
producers, and screenwriters plus others who had the funds
to enter.
This Nightclub had not one, but two revolving stages which
were 80 feet in diameter and a neon lighting system used
in shows. The six tiers accommodated 1,000 people, and inner
circle club members paid $1,000 to sit in the first tier
to watch first hand the exotic decadence. It reopened as
Frank Senne's Moulin Rouge on 12/25/1953 and finally closed
in 1960, it's now a Nickelodeon. |
