Briefly named the "Elite Theatre Opera House" for 2 years. The New York Times reported in 1882 that "the Bird Cage Theatre is the wildest, wickedest night spot between Basin Street and the Barbary Coast." In 1882, Fatima (Little Egypt) allegedly performed her belly dance routine here. The Building is still in existance since 1934 and is a museum/ Tourest attraction.
