| Chewing gum magnate William Wrigley Jr. bought controlling stake in early stages of the Catalina Island development, he used a spot called 'Sugarloaf Point' to build a dance hall which he named 'Sugarloaf Casino.' However it proved too small for Catalina's growing population and in 1928, the Casino was razed to make room for a newer Casino called th Avalon Casino Ballroom. |
