--
Synopsis: Due to an Accident
at work, Jeff Thomas (Joe's Father) can no longer work and
support his family, Joe Thomas (Joe Louis) says he will leave
school and his girlfriend Mary Bowdin (Edna Mae Harris) to
find work. In his search for work Joe meets 'Crickie' (Mantan
Moreland) and strikes up a friendship that accidentally leads
Joe to the boxing ring. Thru some winning bouts, Joe's manager
Frankie Walburn (Clarence Muse) decides he can make more money
on him losing but Joe wont throw the fight. Joe's Manager
decides to use a sexy girl singer Flora Bailey (Mae Turner)
to insure he loses. Joe's former Girlfriend comes to the rescue.
The film is not very entertaining but does have some moments
with Mantan Moreland and the dancing as well as seeing World
heavyweight Boxing Champion (1937–49) Joe Louis ("the
Brown Bomber'') in his only film is worth a watch.
