Synopsis: A nostalgic time capsule
of the 1950s Rock and Roll scene. A frustrated big-band promoter
(Johnny Johnston) runs in to a small town band with a new beat
"Bill Haley and the Comets" at a small-town dance and
then tries to promote this new sound to New York then the rest
of the world. This film was based on the song by Bill Haley which
became the major breakthrough for Rock and Roll Music.
(A
Side Note: Freed was indicted on payola charges in 1960 and died
of a heart attack in 1965 and Tony Martinez was Pepino Garcia
from the Real McCoys TV show.)
*
Some nice Jitterbug / Vintage West Coast Swing dancing throughout
this early Rock and Roll film. Legendary Jitterbug / West Coast
Swing Swing dancers Lennie Smith, Lou Southern, Frieda Wyckoff
and John Archer are featured in this film as well as others. The
vintage soundtrack is awesome as well for classic 1950's Rock
Music. |
