Synopsis: Doris Stanley (Gloria Jean),
is an orphaned 14 year old child prodigy singer who is oppressed
and financially driven by her Aunt Addie (Nana Bryant) for the
sake of money. She rebels, runs away from home, and ends up tricking
a rural couple Stephen and Ann Winters (Robert Paige, Jane Frazee)
into adopting her. Going to a high school for the very first time,
She is smitten with Jimmy Arnolds (Donald O'Connor) fancy footwork
and vies for his affections.
