| Black Board Jungle (aka:) |
--
Synopsis: A shock story of 1950's
fictional all-male North Manual High School hoodlums! which portrays
the horrible conditions that teachers had to face in the larger
cities and small towns by switchblade-wielding, hot rod driving
juvenile delinquents and made juvenile delinquency the top issue
of the day. " Daddy-O" teacher Richard Dadier (Glen Ford)
believes that he can reach and teach the kids. Sidney Poiter and
Vic Morrow stole the entire picture as thugs with great performances
and great acting skills. This film was nominated for four Oscars.
There are better films from this era but this is an absolute must
see film.

This film launched the Rock and Roll era to the mainstream public
by using the song " Rock Around the Clock" (Bill Haley's)
as its theme music. The Next film " Don't
Knock the Rock" would officially start the craze. There
is little to no dancing of any length thruout the film however
it is still and important dance film due to Rock Around the Clock's
influence in this movie as it had teenagers leaping from their
seats to dance during the titles of Blackboard Jungle. |
